Benefits of Q-CON
Q-CON has excellent thermal insulation properties due to the cellular structure of the Q-CON material. A well designed and built Q-CON house results in a cool interior in summer and warm interior in winter, and can significantly reduce heating and cooling costs.
Q-CON can be sawn, drilled, nailed and routered using normal wood working tools. This greatly increases onsite productivity and creativity.
Q-CON’s light weight and good workability means that it is very quick to install on site.
Q-CON both reflects sound and absorbs it, offering an excellent sound insulation solution with possibilities for enhancing living environments both indoors and outdoors.
Q-CON is incombustible and is thus especially suited for fire-rated applications, with fire ratings in excess of 4 hours possible.
The main ingredients are quartz sand, cement, lime and water. After the production process, the materials chemical and mineral composition has been stabilized to form a solid Tobermorite crystalline structure which is a volcanic material found in nature. This material is inert and harmless to touch.
Q-CON products are supplied at a standard dry density range of 500 kg/m3 to 650 kg/m3. Q-CON is approximately one-fifth the weight of normal concrete with resultant saving in transport and construction costs.
Q-CON products are dimensionally accurate making installation easier and raising the quality of the construction process and finished product.
Q-CON structures are highly durable and will not degrade under normal atmospheric conditions. Q-CON products have been in use in many countries around the world for over 90 years. Since that time the material has proven its durability under many varying climatic and chemical conditions.
